WestJet goes pink again to help make breast cancer beatable

Most of us have been impacted by cancer; many of us have been impacted by breast cancer. This month, more than 13,000 WestJetters are rallying together to support breast cancer awareness initiatives through purchasing and wearing custom-designed pink pieces, the CIBC Run for the Cure and fundraising campaigns. We believe a future without breast cancer is possible. Do you?

For the third consecutive year, WestJetters’ uniforms will look a little pinker in October with the addition of pink neckwear and hats that have been made available to employees with 100 per cent of the purchase price going to the Canadian Cancer Society. In addition, for 2018 new pink ‘personality’ pins were created and are available by donation to show year-round support.

As a proud supporter and the official airline of the CIBC Run for the Cure for the sixth consecutive year, WestJetters and their families and friends gathered together at over 18 locations across Canada on Sunday, September 30 for the annual run. That’s 40 teams comprised of 395 WestJetters! As an airline, we travel millions of miles every year. But during the Runs we log our most important miles – on foot.

Did you know? Since partnering with the former Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in 2013, which merged last year with the Canadian Cancer Society, WestJet has provided the gift of flight assisting with reducing business administration expenses, incenting participation in the Run for the Cure and bolstering fundraising activities by encouraging employee fundraising.

Over the last five years, WestJetters have raised more than $441,000 for life-saving breast cancer research and programs and we look forward to adding to that number in the months and years ahead. Thank you all for your continued support as we work together to make breast cancer beatable.
