Through our WestJet Cares for Kids partnership with Make-A-Wish® Canada, WestJet and WestJetters have played a role in fulfilling thousands of travel wishes for children with critical illnesses. So much of a normal childhood is taken away when a child is faced with a life-threatening medical condition — it is both emotionally and physically exhausting. It is our honour to play a part in making wishes come true because a wish gives kids the opportunity to look outside their illness, it restores a sense of childhood for the child and normalcy for the family.
From the moment when flights are booked, to check in at the airport, and the in-flight experience, WestJetters consistently go above and beyond to create a remarkable experience for each wish child and their family. It is these meaningful interactions with the brave Make-A-Wish® families that inspire WestJetters to go the extra mile.
These connections have also inspired numerous WestJetters to personally become involved with Make-A-Wish. Across our network, teams of WestJetters volunteer at local Make-A-Wish events, many support fundraising initiatives, and others give their time as volunteer wish granters. We love hearing these inspirational stories of how WestJetters engage with Make-A-Wish and share happiness in their very own communities.
To celebrate International Day of Happiness, watch how, together with some very special Make-A-Wish alumni and their families, we surprised volunteer wish granter and longtime WestJetter, Karl to thank him for bringing joy into the lives of so many.
May Karl and the thousands of WestJetters who make meaningful connections and share happiness every day inspire you to join us in supporting Make-A-Wish Canada. Happy International Day of Happiness!
