Update on incident at Fort Lauderdale Airport

WestJet is extremely saddened by what has occurred at the Fort Lauderdale airport today. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of those affected.

We have heard reports that the suspect came off of a flight from Canada. WestJet can confirm that we have no record of the alleged suspect named in reports on the passenger manifests for any of our Fort Lauderdale-bound flights.

At the moment, four WestJet flights have been affected. The Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is still shut down at this time with no flights arriving or departing. We have cancelled two flights (WS 1059 Fort Lauderdale Montreal FLL-YUL) and WS 1220 Toronto Fort Lauderdale YYZ-FLL and WS 1221 Fort Lauderdale Toronto FLL-YYZ. A third flight, WS 1630 Calgary Fort Lauderdale YYC-FLL is diverting to Montreal. The fourth flight, WS 1283 Fort Lauderdale Ottawa, is holding on the ground awaiting imminent departure to Ottawa. We are working on recaccomodation plans now for those guests affected.

We are implementing flexible change/cancel policy and any guests with questions are encouraged to contact us at 1-888-937-8538.
