In honour of travel agent appreciation month we want to discuss the often overlooked but significant role of a travel agent in the vacation planning process.
What do we love about travel agents?
1. They are experts.
Vacation browsing can be fun but daunting if you have no idea about where to go, where to stay or what to do when you get there. Here’s where travel agents come in. Travel agents visit destinations across the planet and typically have years of industry knowledge and experience under their belt. They know great details about your top must-do vacation hotspot or at the very least learned about it at an industry training event, trade show or familiarization trip. Their knowledge about destinations and resorts is extensive and their expertise can save you time (and headaches).
2. They think of everything.
Travel agents are a one-stop shop. They think of things that you may have not even considered – like travel insurance and travel documentation – and treat your vacation like much more than just a flight. Travel agents provide valuable insight and personal recommendations on the best activities, restaurants and shopping. That hidden gem you didn’t know about? Yah, they know exactly where it’s at. Think of them as your personal vacation planner.
3. They are time savers.
In today’s busy and hectic go, go, go world, time is precious – which is all the more reason to rely on a travel agent. As they plan vacations for a living they can probably get you booked and on your way in half the amount of time you could. Especially if you’re travelling with a large group or thinking about getting married in an exotic destination (which can be a nightmare to organize!). Don’t waste time surfing the internet for the best deals – rely on a travel agent to do it for you. That way you can avoid the stress and re-invest the time in doing things that are important to you.
At WestJet we are celebrating travel agents this May and encourage you to do the same! Travel agents are an integral part of WestJet’s business and without them we wouldn’t be where we are today. We value and are committed to the relationship we have with all our travel trade partners.
If you booked your flight or vacation with a travel agent please join us in thanking them this May and every day! Show us how you’re celebrating travel agents by tagging WestJet (@WestJet) and using the hashtag #HoorayForTAs
