Where to stay and what to do in Las Vegas

You’re planning a getaway to Las Vegas and want your memories to be as vibrant as the neon lights that line The Strip, right? We get it; after all, we are the number one international carrier into Las Vegas so our expertise of the area runs deep. Here are a few recommendations to consider when planning your next trip to Vegas.

Caesars Palace is one of the largest and best known landmarks in the area. Caesars is home to all things entertainment, including Absinthe and the renowned Forum Shops – also known as “The Shopping Wonder of the World”, who just happen to be celebrating their 25th anniversary this year! If you’ve got a penchant for big names and big shows, this is the place for you. You can also head over to other Caesars properties like The LINQ to take in a Mat Franco show.

Staying at the Flamingo? Grab a cabana at the Beach Club Pool. This is the perfect option for those travelling with a group or anyone who is looking for a little more privacy. Vegas is busy, so this is the place to relax and unwind before your next activity.

If you’re a foodie and staying at The Cosmopolitan you’re in luck. With over 21 restaurants to choose from it’s hard to pick just one, but if you have to narrow it down we highly recommend a visit to STK. This contemporary steakhouse is a Las Vegas celebrity hotspot offering signature dishes like the crispy lobster tail and tuna tartare. All we can say is bring your appetite.

Technology and design enthusiasts, look no further than the ARIA for your next stay. Take in the views and unique architecture at Herringbone. The 5,500 square foot patio features covered cabanas and tables surrounded by lush garden landscape, the most ideal setting to enjoy a California-inspired meal before a night out. Speaking of heading out, JEWEL Nightclub is where you’ll want to be, especially if you want to see a world class DJ or performer.

With its luxury look and large size, there’s no question that there’s a lot happening at The Venetian. If you’re staying there or at The Palazzo, you’ll be centrally located with easy access to walk over and see BAZ – Star Crossed Love by famed director Baz Luhrmann. It’s the ideal show to enjoy for date night as it celebrates music and moments from the greatest love stories imagined – aww. If you really want to up the date night ante, go for a pre or post show meal at Chica or Yardbird.

Fun fact: Luxor got its name after the city of Luxor in Egypt, which is where it gets its unique and modernized design from. Want to know what else is unique? Blue Man Group. Get ready for the best kind of multi-sensory overload as they mix comedy, theater, rock and a dance party all in one.

If you’re having a hard time deciding who you want to see in Vegas, perhaps heading over to The Mirage to see Terry Fator should be on your list of things to-do! With his comedic banter, singing and unparalleled celebrity impressions, this one of a kind experience will make you feel like you’ve seen more than one show in a single sitting.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention one of our favourite parts of Vegas, Cirque du Soleil®. You can choose from a plethora of shows including KÀ, The Beatles LOVE, Michael Jackson ONE, Mystère, O, Zumanity, and Criss Angel MINDFREAK® LIVE!.

By now we hope you’re getting excited, but before you head off to book a trip to Las Vegas, here are a few final thoughts on how to fill your Vegas itinerary. Did we save the best for last? That’s up to you to decide during your next vacation.

  • If you’ve ever dreamed of being a fighter pilot, Sky Combat Ace is a must-do. It’s time to stop dreaming and climb aboard your very own stunt plane. No, we’re not joking.
  • What happens when you combine a lively driving range, restaurant, music and pool? You get Topgolf. We could spend hours here practicing our golf swing, taking in the epic view and enjoying the atmosphere with patrons from all over the world.
  • Head out on a guided Jeep tour with Las Vegas Rock Crawlers. They offer some of the best off-road Jeep tours in southern Nevada. They provide the Jeep, lunch and knowledge; you just have to bring your sense of adventure and sunscreen!
  • Leave a little extra room in your bag (or bring an extra suitcase!) and go shopping at the Miracle Mile Shops. Don’t forget, your first checked bag is free if you’re a Silver or Gold member or WestJet RBC MasterCard holder.
  • Magic Mike Live has officially landed in Vegas. Enjoy 😉

You may have heard about our not-so-little #WestJetVegasSurprise. Lucky for you, there’s a good chance of a surprise on an upcoming flight to Vegas, so book soon and you might just be on your way to one of these places or experiences sooner than you think.
