WestJet Connect, our new inflight entertainment and connectivity system, launched in July and we’ve seen amazing feedback from our guests so far. In order to get the most out of WestJet Connect while you’re flying with us, you need to have the WestJet app installed on your phone or tablet (and, ideally, on all your devices so that each of them can access WestJet Connect).
If you plan on connecting via your laptop, there’s no need to download the app, but you will be prompted to install a browser plugin once you connect to the WestJet Connect W-Fi signal on board one of our aircraft. .
Below you’ll find instructions on how to download the WestJet app on your iPhone, iPad or Android phone/tablet so that you can enjoy all the features of our app, including WestJet Connect.
Note: if you’re reading this from an airport boarding lounge, you should be able to use the airport Wi-Fi to download the app. Download speeds may vary from airport to airport, depending on how much bandwidth they offer and how many other people are also using their system. If you find that downloading via airport Wi-Fi is too slow, you can also use your mobile phone’s data to download the app (mobile carrier fees may apply). The app download size will be indicated in the description of the app in the Google Play Store or the Apple App store.

That’s it! You’re now set up with everything you need to enjoy WestJet Connect the next time you’re on a connected aircraft.
When you’ve boarded the aircraft, connect to the onboard Wi-Fi system (called “WestJetConnect”). Once you’re connected, all you have to do is open the WestJet app, launch the “WestJet Connect” section and you’ll have access to hundreds of hours of live streaming TV and movies (for free) as well as the option to connect to the Internet for a small fee. If you don’t have an Apple or Android device, it is possible to access WestJet Connect from your laptop too.
If you plan on travelling with other family members, be sure to download the WestJet app on all your devices so each one can connect to our new inflight entertainment system. Over the next couple years we plan on phasing out the LiveTV system on all our Boeing 737s and installing the WestJet Connect system across our Boeing fleet (737s and 767s), so you’ll definitely want to ensure you have the WestJet app installed so you can enjoy all that WestJet Connect has to offer.
