Join #MostValuableNetwork and help find missing children

There’s nothing quite so heart-wrenching as the news of a missing child. The uncertainty implied by the word “missing” can be terrifying to consider; and of course no one among us wants to think of children in danger. So it is shocking to learn that in 2014 there were 41,342 reports of missing children in Canada. Yeah – that’s a lot of kids. And a lot of impacted families.

The good news is that we can all help. WestJet Cares for Kids partner The Missing Children Society of Canada (MCSC) has been helping for 30 years, providing information and support for families with missing children. MCSC works closely with law enforcement, families and the public, providing professional investigative services, family support, resources and more – all free of charge.

As a society, we succeed only when we take care of the most vulnerable among us. And when a child goes missing, every second counts. That’s why we’re on board and giving our support to The Missing Children Society of Canada.

On average, MCSC closes three registered files per week. Now they’re using the power of social media to create Canada’s most comprehensive and wide-ranging network to help find missing kids. Created in partnership with Microsoft, The Most Valuable Network™ platform uses social media feeds donated by the public to quickly post missing children notifications and updates on Facebook and Twitter.

Most Valuable Network
Currently, more than 1.4 million Facebook users and 185,000 Twitter users have donated their feeds. The goal is to grow the network by 41,342 – which brings us back to how we can all help. Between now and May 25, National Missing Children’s Day, we’re asking everyone in WestJet’s world to join the cause and donate their social feed to The Most Valuable Network™ to help reunite missing children with their families.

With just one click you truly do have the power to bring a missing child home. Head over now to Most Valuable Network and join the world’s first online search party. Once you’ve donated your feeds please help us spread the word by using the #MostValuableNetwork hashtag.
